Winter Mountaineering, Scotland FULLY BOOKED
March 9 - March 14Free
Looking to take your climbing, summer walking or scrambling skills to the next level? Or fancy getting out on the snow again? Join PMC for a few fantastic winter days in Scotland. Whether you’re new to winter and are looking to develop your winter walking/mountaineering skills, would like to get some climbing in, or even get out skiing – this trip is for you.
Staying at The Alex MacIntyre Memorial Hut in North Ballachulish, in the Western Highlands, we’ll have easy access to Glencoe and Ben Nevis. We’ve booked accommodation for 5 nights giving us at least 4 full days available.
We currently have 10x beds provisionally booked and they’ll be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis – so please be quick. Please note, we don’t have exclusive access and some other beds are pre-booked to other club members.
Accommodation is £60 for 5x nights and if you would like to stay longer, as some members already are, you may be able to do this – however please check availability and book directly.
Transport is likely to be by car-share to give easy access on the ground, plus travel with kit. Please let the meet leader know if you’re okay to drive and how many spaces you have. The total distance is approximately 400 miles and the duration approx 8hrs from Peterborough, so you’ll likely want to share the driving.
The primary focus will be on winter walking/mountaineering, however depending on personal preferences/skills there’ll be the option to climb and ski as well.
For guests who haven’t done any winter walking before, we’ll look into scheduling some winter skills training for the first couple of days with an instructor/guide.
We can discuss as a group in advance what activities people would like to do.
You should have appropriate winter clothing and wear. Specialist kit such as boots, axes, crampons etc can be hired locally. Please let the meet leader know what you have, or whether you need any kit in advance.
