Winter Skills Training in North Wales

20 January - 21 January

Free

New to winter walking, or looking to develop your skills and knowledge?

PMC are organising a weekend Winter Skills Training, with Plas Y Brenin – The National Mountain Sports Centre.

The training will cover:

  • Use and choice of ice-axe/crampons
  • Equipment selection
  • Winter navigation
  • Self- arrest recovery, and more

Staying at the club cottage in North Wales, you’ll travel Friday evening for two full days of training. Normal cottage fees apply.

Technical equipment will be provided, but you’ll need suitable outdoor clothing/kit.

The Welsh winter can be fickle, and snow cannot be guaranteed. The course will have a flexible approach to the programme to make the best possible use of the conditions and will still run with no snow.

The training is open to members only for the reduced cost of £100pp for two days (normally £245 individually). The cost is reduced as we’ll be hiring private instructors for the weekend.

Spaces are limited to 6 people. If these fully book, we’ll look at booking a second instructor for another group of 6.
