The third full weekend of the month is reserved for Peterborough Mountaineer Club members at our club cottage in North Wales. We regularly run specific events and activities, with meet leaders, on these weekends - and advertise them on here and our Facebook group. Regardless of whether there's a specified event, members are welcome to attend and either join in or do your own thing. Get in contact if you've not been before, or don't have keys.

Malcolm Flatt has kindly offered to run a free Navigation Theory training session for members, followed by our November social meet. The navigation theory session will be approx 90 minutes, from 6.30pm, and likely to run from the Peterborough Town Sports Club (where the climbing wall is based). Night Navigation Training

Jeff Smith has very kindly offered to run a Night Navigation Training session for 3x lucky members. Spots are available on a first come, first served basis by signing up below. The session will last between 3 and 4 hrs. You'll need to wear usual clothes, plus bring the following: head torch, compass, food/drink and walking boots as it's muddy and cold. Exact timings and meeting location to be confirmed nearer the time!

Beginners Winter Climbing Training in the Lakes

Jeff Smith has very kindly offered to run a beginners winter climbing training session in the Lakes for up to 4x lucky people. The training will cover things from the basics of ice-axe arrest, crampon use, navigation in white-out etc. Plus more advanced areas including rope work, setting up ice/turf anchors/belays, assessing snow/ice/cornice conditions. For anyone interested in joining, you'll need to know the basics using ropes. Plus you'll need your own crampons and axes, or be able to hire/borrow…
